I am incapable of saying “no way jose” to a beautiful dish… especially when it is all alone, and all other of its kind have left its side. (sad). I have several stray dishes that I bought JUST because they are beautiful, (and on sale) knowing very well I would have no idea what to do with it! Anthropologie always has strays on sale for dirt cheap and I’m a sucker for a bargain… and plates. My mom also got me a few adorable plates at a yard sale a while back and even though she also gave me plate hangers for the wall, I could never really see the vision… so they are still laying in my dark cupboard, probably very sad and lonely. I fell upon this inspiration yesterday and knew this had to be my next project! I need to put my plates to beautiful use! Hope you enjoy this inspiration board… it is quite lovely and made my day!
Althought this is a personalized Halloween dinnerware tutorial, the basis remains the same and can be used for so many different activites, holidays, or just an everyday crafty project to spruce up your old dishes and make them your own!

This so completely speaks to me. I’ve always had a desire to pick up unique beautiful plates too and now I see how to use them. I guess I’ve never been sure how to hang them but I’ll bet the link you sent will explain. Every photo is wonderful. I only have a few plates, but this could be the beginning of a new hobby. Having special family plates would be even better Love your blog!
Maybe we should start collecting plates from all the places that we have been! We can start a new hobby together! 🙂
You inspire me.
LOVE the blue and white ones . . some of my favorite restaurants use all unique, one of a kind mismatched plates, I love that
Do I have dishes!!!!!!!!!! Wow, it is my hobby to collect everything from pottery to Spode to WAterford! I mix and match and use them all at luncheons or dinners anytime of the year because all are special. My girlfriends fuss over which one to use. If I had a funky apt, I would use the bright and bold ones on the wall. Linds, I have the blues in Spode and can get you some if you have a wall for them. I actually sold 8 about 2 years ago when I changed the kitchen from b utter yellow to milk choc brown walls.
You girls know everything!
Hi Linda! I am so happy to hear from you! I think the mixing and matching style is so cute… you could set a fancy table using all different plates to “funk” it up a little bit! I love that idea!
