Hiking to a Castle with Backcountry

Bonjour from Keysersberg!!! I can’t even believe this place is real. It looks like a fairy tale town! The streets are lined with food: hot chocolate vendors, pretzels, fresh fruits and candies. Each house is decorated for the Holidays and has so much Old World charm. ????

When we travel, we tend to go the unconventional route. We love little nooks that are off the beaten path and love staying in places that aren’t too crowded or over-explored. Make your own path!
We chose to stay in the tiny town of Equisheim, about an hour outside of Strasbourg. We got a little airbnb inside the town and it was pretty magical. Had a hard
time finding anything to eat after 5 pm ???? but that’s the beauty of going your own way… always an adventure! ????

Equisheim is neighboring a bunch of other small gems, Keysersburg, Colmar and Riquewihr were our favorites.
The castle looking over the top of Keysersburg held some of the best views!! And we were the only ones there. ???? We hiked to the top and watched the sun go down + the bustling Christmas town from afar.
I packed so light this trip, I was so proud of myself! (I am usually SUCH an overpacker), but I fit everything in my little carry-on bag this time! I brought some of my favorite Backcountry pieces… *I’m linking everything below*! Everything I brought can be layered and is so versatile for winter and transitioning into other seasons. Great pieces for travel!
I’ve worn this Patagonia vest almost everyday, even under my big winter coat. It’s really thin and folds up small but is SO warm and keeps your core toasty. (It’s FREEEEZING here.) This would also make for an awesome gift! *so many cute colors to choose from*
Sorels are my favorite go to boot lately… I have a few pairs now, all from Backcountry, I’ll link them all below! They’re so comfy, kept my feet warm, and I wore them everyday walking around for miles and miles without ever missing a step.
This is one of the few trips Clay and I have taken alone without the kiddos… they usually ALWAYS travel with us. But we decided to spend a little quality time together this time! BUT that doesn’t mean they can’t be included in the post. ????????

We shot these photos before we left because I have to show you these cute new coats I got them! We are also headed to Park City, UT next week in the snow, so I needed some warm layers for them too. As always, linked below! ????
