I saw the butterflies and knew immediately that was going to be the catalyst for the whole space.
Clara’s room was a two phase process.
#1: In this phase we painted the walls, put down new carpet, threw some tinfoil up on the window and called it good.
But it’s been like this for about two years and honestly has worked pretty well. There were so many projects in here that I wanted to do it just never got around to it. So one week when we had a little bit of time, I decided to finally jump into it and get it done.
The catalyst of the whole thing, though, was the butterfly wallpaper that I found from Hygge and West. And it totally seemed like Clara and I knew she would absolutely love it. Tap here to see a video of her seeing the butterflies for the first time.
The first thing I did was create a mood board. This is the first thing I do every single time I start a new space. Having a mood board will always give me a good jumping off point and sets the mood for the space.
I wanted the bed to be very simple because the wallpaper was so busy. I found this bed at the Home Depot and it was such a great deal. I love that it is low to the ground and it it was so easy to put together.
I had the most fun with the bedding. I wanted to make sure that it felt feminine but interesting and a little bit whimsical. I love the mix of patterns. Gingham plaid, and a teeny tiny floral, mixed with linens and frayed edges…. I love how it turned out.
The dresser was an amazing Facebook marketplace find. I switched out the knobs to these ones, I felt that they were just a little more whimsical and playful.

Clara’s absolute favorite thing to do is sit with a bunch of books and read to herself. It is one of my favorite things in life to sit and watch her pretend to read as she puts her fingers along the words, page after page.
I wanted to create a little reading nook for her to do just that.
I found the bookshelves on Amazon. They are such a good find. I love that they don’t detract from the books, they are acrylic, a very clean look, especially for a room that is so busy.
Every time I go into her room, it makes me so happy. It is such a small room and it has been so easy to keep clean since I fully organize the drawers and closet.
The space felt like such a cave before, and I hate it going in there. But now it is so happy, bright and cheery and I love how much Clara loves it.

This is beautiful!! Is there a link to the bedding? I’m obsessed with small florals lately and this room is making me want to redo my grown up bed too!
