I am sorry to tell you that I used to be a wayfaring gym member. It’s true. I was one of those people who would join the gym on January first, go to the gym for 2 weeks, maybe a few classes to really get me motivated, and then let the gym take full advantage of my bank account while I let me little barbells accumulate cobwebs. It’s embarrassing, I know. But I have learned my lesson. I won’t do that again. Unless, I REEEEALLY plan on going. 😉
So this year I am trying something new. No gym, no membership, and best of all, this resolution is FREE! I have come to the self realization that I spend a lot of time planning to see other places, moving elsewhere, or just daydreaming of being somewhere else. This, I am realizing is not healthy, and not the best way to live life. Yes, I will eventually be living somewhere else. But with new jobs, we are settling in for a year or so. And that’s that. So this is my new year’s resolution. EXPLORE! Not other places around the world, but my own backyard. I live in such a beautiful part of the country and I totally take it for granted. I don’t appreciate the amazing landscapes I am surrounded by daily. This year I will spend more time hiking, biking, swimming, and just being outdoors; and less time sitting on my computer planning, daydreaming, wishing to be elsewhere.
I will live. here. now.
** This picture taken in Parley’s Canyon headed toward Park City. It was so gorgeous yesterday. I love Utah. WOW! Did I really just say that?! Step one: complete.
WHAT IS YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION?
Wow, I so agree with your new resolution, so to speak! Use what you have, where you have it, and make it the best it can be. There are so many wonderful ways to live and enjoy this life we have.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too! 🙂
Thanks Linda!
Since I have recently survived a catastrophic illness, I have realized that my life has been spared for a purpose. This one thing I know for sure: KINDNESS MATTERS. I am going to spend the rest of the time I have here on earth in knowing that there is no kindness too small to make a difference in someone’s life. I had so many loving people around me, caring for me and just supporting me.
we all need to care for each other. Happy new year.
We all take so many things for granted everyday. Like you said, taking our health for granted is probably our number one fault. We need to treasure everyday and yes, kindness makes a huge difference in everyone’s life. I am glad you are feeling a little better and I hope you continue to progress! MUCH LOVE!!! xoxo
I miss Utah much more than I thought I would…completely honest. I hated the winters with a fiery passion, but I lived there for five years and I did come out of that loving a lot of things.
Sounds like a good resolution!
Just curious, where did you move to?
I love the idea of exploring as a New Year’s resolution! I think it will be much more fulfilling and memorable than going to the gym (I’m totally in the same boat as you on that one). My resolution this year is to get up earlier which will be a challenge since I’m self employed and a night owl! Still much more do-able than going to the gym everyday 😉

That’s also a really good one!! I should consider doing this. I always feel so much better getting up early in the morning but ABSOLUTELY HATE it in the process. I think I will add this to my list! THANKS!
Love this!! I am just like you looking things up and dreaming of being somewhere else thinking it would for some reason be better then what I have. And here I am some place else living my dream and all I want is to be back in utah.
TAWSHA! This should definitely be your resolution too. haha we are totally the same in that way. You are in a fantastic place! enjoy it while you can, you might be saying you want to go back when you finally get home… or maybe not… hmm
This is cute and I am glad you are going to make the best of where you are NOW. I need to be better at that too. Thank you for the reminder!
My resolution is to live with less “stuff.” My kids can have anything I have. I want to spend my time traveling, spending more time with family, and trying to make life easier for others.
This is a good resolution. None of us need as much as we think we do.
I’m with ya. Exploring and living healthier is my New Year’s resolution. The tough part will be getting my husband on board for a little travel time. 🙂
You are so right. I will say as much as I love SoCal, I did take the incredible Utah landscapes for granted. The mountains, the streams, the hiking, the canyons, etc etc. I love that I was raised in a place where I was taught to recognize and appreciate the beauty of our Mother Earth. michael and I LOVED being there for your gorgeous wedding, and I realized I . . MISSED it! One day, some day you will be “somewhere else” and you will miss it too! So I’m glad you are living and loving life in the here and now.
