Reasons we love baby Curren:
1. He is such a squishy little bean! So cuddly and wants to be held ALL THE TIME. (This is my favorite and one of my least favorite things. ????)
2. He is such an old soul, I don’t know what it is about him but he just feels so smart… like he really GETS it. Do you know what I mean? Do I sound crazy?! ????
3. When he is happy, he is SOOO happy. Like, belly laugh giggling happy.
But when my little guy isn’t his happy little self it just breaks my heart!! And in the beginning this was all too often.
Sooo let’s start with my saying that Curren isn’t the easiest baby. Yes, he is smiley and giggly and there are about a billion reasons why we love him! But it’s funny; we didn’t know how easy we had it with Ezra until Curren came around. Isn’t that always the case? If only we appreciated the ease of having an “easy”, sleepy ONLY child. ????
Curren is the smiliest baby there ever was, and is usually pretty happy… but we have had our go around with a bit of digestive upset. After talking with my midwife, she suggested using probiotics for Curren so when the opportunity to work with Culturelle® came about, it just made sense! It was something I had been wanting to try for Curren so the stars aligned. Haha
So before this whole baby #2 roller coaster and trying to solve some issues, I didn’t know much about probiotics. I knew they were good for your gut health, that I should probably be taking them… but I didn’t ever think to give them to my baby. After reading up on it, I learned that probiotics help to restore the natural balance of good bacteria in your babe’s digestive tract.*
Why is this important? (A little snippet from Culturelle®’s site explains it best.)
Gut health is an important factor for immune development and overall health throughout life. The development of a healthy gut begins with baby’s exposure to the right microbes at the right time. This exposure occurs during fetal development and birth and continues over the first two years of life. Several factors help expose your baby to the right microbes at the right time, including a healthy pregnancy, mode of delivery (vaginal vs. c-section), manner of feeding (breast vs. bottle) and medications. Probiotics have also been shown to contribute to the developing microbiota during this critical time.*
For us, our biggest problem was with Curren’s occasional tummy troubles. He was definitely gaining weight, (this kid is a giant!) so we weren’t too concerned… but he had a hard time just being comfortable, especially after feedings. We chose to use the Culturelle® Baby Calm + Comfort Probiotic + Chamomile Drops, which are formulated/created/designed to help support baby’s health by boosting digestion, alleviating occasional digestive upset, and reducing the associated fussiness and crying.*
If your little one is having occasional digestive issues or tummy troubles, this is definitely something I recommend trying! Culturelle® carries the drops that we chose along with the Grow and Thrive probiotic + Vitamin D drops. Both of the drops options are great for infants and for older children, the Grow and Thrive probiotic packets are great for children 12-24 months. Anything to keep these little kiddos happier and healthy is a win in my book!
