Hey hey guys!! We have been feeling a need to get more creative with our travel plans lately. When we travel for vacation, the first places that always come to mind are tropical beaches or big popular cities. (There are a couple of destinations also on our radar but the flights are just too far for us with two little kids.) When the opportunity arose to visit Whistler, BC Canada, with Four Seasons, we JUMPED at the chance! We had heard so many amazing things about Whistler and to stay at the Four Seasons, Whistler, we knew it would be a dream.
After looking into it, there was so much to do and a perfect spot for kids. It was something so different for us and a completely new place to see. It’s also been so hot this summer it was a great way to escape the heat of Southern California.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Residences. IT. WAS. PERFECT. The Residences are so great for families, even when traveling with extended family or friends. They are a lot larger than regular hotel rooms, have kitchens and separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Our place was HUGE! There were 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in our place (two of which were master suites), along with an office, kitchen, living room and a giant patio area, multiple fireplaces (so cozy), and huge bathtubs! It was like being at home but with all the amazing amenities and services that Four Seasons offers. It was surrounded by AMAZING view of the trees. It felt like we were in the middle of the forest. The residences are such a great option to go to with extended family or friends. My Mom and Dad joined us for the trip and we had tons of room. Four Seasons are always in the best locations and they are always so nice. Four Seasons Whistler was no different. They also have shuttles leaving every few minutes that will take you everywhere you need to go in town. But to be honest, the best part of our visit were the people and the service from Four Seasons. Everyone from the bell man, to the desk staff, the wait staff, the drivers, every person was so nice, welcoming and attentive. We felt like we were best friends with everyone there.
We had such a good time and had so many good experiences. A few weeks back I got a ton of great recommendations of things to do in Whistler and some of them we did and unfortunately, others we didn’t have time for. I’ll add the list here below so if you’re ever in town you can use the post as a guide and hopefully get some good ideas. A lot of the recommendations were from Whistler and Vancouver locals so the suggestions are awesome.
Day 1: YOU GUYS, Canada and especially Whistler is SO BEAUTIFUL. On our first day we really wanted to just see the famous Whistler mountain. So we took the Peak 2 Peak Gondola and did some small hike around both peaks. And I didn’t know but there are actually two mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb which are right next to each other. And the Gondola takes you from the Peak of one to the other. The Gondola holds all sorts of records for how high and long it is. It offered the most amazing views and Ezra and Curren looooved it. It was so fun. The place is huge, if you are a skier or snowboarder this place is a must!
Day 2: was pretty amazing. Clay and my Dad went golfing at Nicklaus North while my Mom and I got massages in our room and had some time to relax. It was the best thing ever. The boys said golfing was AMAZING and snagged a few photos. Ezzy went with them. His first time on the links and he loved it. Mainly loved helping Dad drive the cart. The course looked absolutely beautiful.
Later that day we took a walk around Lost Lake with the hotel pup Moala. It is a few minutes walk from the Four Seasons. This was one of my favorite parts of the trip. The walk was beautiful. It circles the lake all the while you are amongst thousands of huge and beautiful trees. There is a beach there and a ton of grass for the kids to hang out and play. There are also the cutest little docks in the lake you can swim out to. Such a relaxing and fun place. If we had more time we would have loved to take a dip and swim out to the docks.
Then we did a little smore’s time by the Four Seasons camper + fireplace. I loved this setting.
Day 3: Clay and I got some alone time. It was so fun. We woke up early and did the Porshe Experience by Canadian Wilderness Adventures. We had the opportunity to drive our own Porche Cayenne around the back roads of Whistler and really explore! It was amazing to see so much more of Whistler that we normally wouldn’t have been able to see in any other way. Our tour guide was so cool, he quit his realtor job in the city and had been living in an off-grid cabin in the woods for years exploring Whistler. He knew of the most amazing places to take us. And the off-roading was way crazier than I had expected. Driving through rivers, bouldering, driving on two wheels.
Later that day we walked around Whistler Village. So many good eats and shopping. It’s beautiful and such a chill place to hang with the family. For dinner, Clay and I went to the Bearfoot Bistro in the Village. Long story short…a way fancier meal than either of us deserves, the best food any of us has ever eaten, sabering wine bottles, putting on huge Canadian down coats and hanging in a -20 Fahrenheit blue ice room, going through a secret passage to a famous underground wine cellar with over 20,000 bottle of wine including one from 1906, and the best ice cream on the planet. Our meal lasted 3 hours…It was so much fun and such a treat for us… an experience we will never forget.
The food in Whistler was so good. Below there is a quite a few restaurant, mostly from locals! We ate a few times at Sidecut Restaurant right at the Four Seasons in Whistler. It was soooo good everytime. And the service was awesome, always. One of my favorite experiences was the in-room Chef dining. It was absolutely amazing! A chef from Sidecut came to the room and prepared the most amazing meal for our family. We just felt so special and lucky to be able to experience it!
Day 4: On our last day we did the breakfast buffet at Sidecut before heading out to Vancouver. It was the best I’ve ever had. Made to order omelettes, any juice you could think of, fruit, fresh muffins, oatmeal, bagels with locks, so good. It was a good note to leave on.
So I guess its pretty easy to tell that I think everyone should visit this place. And I feel like we just scratched the surface! We will most definitely be back! ???? Here’s a quick list below of things to do and places to eat. I wish we could have done them all! For the last half of our trip we stayed in downtown Vancouver. I’ll be doing a post about that as well along with some of our recommendations and the suggestions we got from YOU so keep your eyes peeled.
